Tips for a successful Just Eat courier application

Applying to provide your delivery services as a Just Eat courier is straightforward—but small mistakes can slow you down. The good news? Most rejections are easy to avoid. This guide shares insider tips to help you get approved quickly.

Get organised before you apply

Many applicants start filling in their application and realise halfway through they're missing something. Then they have to stop, find what they need, and come back later. Spend some time organising the information you need to apply before you start.

Tip: spend some time gathering all the documents you need.

  • Your primary ID

  • Hire and Reward Insurance certificate (if using a car/van/motorcycle/scooter)

  • Driving licence (if using a car/van/motorcycle/scooter)

  • Personal Public Service (PPS) Number

  • Every address you've lived at in the last 5 years (street, city, postcode, dates)

  • Recent proof of address (for example, a utility bill, bank statement, or council tax from the last 3 months. Mobile phone statements are not valid.)

If you're an Irish, EU, EEA, or Swiss national

You'll need to show one of the following:

✅ Irish passport

This proves you're an Irish citizen or have the right of abode in the Republic of Ireland.

✅ EU/EEA/Swiss passport or national identity card

A valid passport or national identity card showing you're a national of an EU country, EEA country, or Switzerland.

If you're a non-EU/EEA/Swiss national

You need current and valid permission to work and reside in the Republic of Ireland. You must provide one of the following documents:

1. Irish Residence Permit (IRP)

Your IRP must show:

  • Permission to work (with stamp number 4)

  • Valid for stays longer than 90 days

  • Issued to non-EU/EEA and non-Swiss citizens

2. Passport with family member endorsement

A passport or document issued by the Irish Government with an endorsement confirming:

  • You have a current right of residence in the Republic of Ireland

  • You are a family member of an EU/EEA national or Swiss citizen

3. Passport with indefinite leave to remain

A passport or travel document endorsed to show:

  • You can stay indefinitely in the Republic of Ireland, OR

  • You have no time limit on your stay

4. Passport with work permission endorsement

A passport or travel document endorsed to show:

  •  You can stay in the Republic of Ireland, AND

  • The endorsement permits you to do delivery work (even if you don't have a separate work permit)

5. Application Registration Card (for asylum seekers)

An Application Registration Card issued by the Irish Government that states:

  • You are permitted to take employment

Tip: Make sure your document is valid (not expired) and clearly shows your permission to work in Ireland. If you're unsure whether your document is acceptable, check with Irish immigration authorities before applying.

Upload your documents right the first time

Before uploading your documents, make sure you know exactly what needs to be uploaded for a successful application.

Insurance certificate

When you apply for Hire and Reward business insurance, your insurance company sends you several documents. Make sure that when you apply, you upload the below only:

✅  Certificate of Motor Insurance

This is usually a one-page document titled "Certificate of Motor Insurance" or "Letter of Enrollment" at the top, showing your name, vehicle, and coverage details. Check that the document you upload contains all the following information:

1. Does it say "Hire and Reward" OR "Carriage of Goods"?

2. Is your name spelled exactly like your Just Eat profile?

3. If other companies are listed, does it also say "Just Eat"?

Do not upload any of the following documents:

❌ Schedule (shows prices)

❌ Quote (before you buy)

❌ Email or app screenshot

Driving licence

Irish licences have information on both front and back. We need both to verify your details. When uploading your driving licence, make sure you include both sides of the licence as individual uploads.

Upload two separate photos:

Photo 1: front

Photo 2: back

Tip: Zoom in after taking the photo. If you can't read the small text, retake it.

Name matching matters

One of the most common reasons for application delays is a name mismatch across documents. To verify your identity quickly, your name must appear identically on everything you upload. This includes:

  • Just Eat profile

  • Insurance certificate

  • Driving licence

Example: If the name on your insurance says "John Smith" but your Just Eat profile says "Jonathan Smith", you need to change your profile name to match your insurance.

After submitting your application

After you submit your application, you'll see a page that says "Submission Complete". This does not mean that you are approved and ready to start delivering on our network, but that you have uploaded all your documents. After this, our team will spend some time reviewing your documents. Once approved, we'll be in touch!
