Document 2: a driving licence
When applying to deliver with Just Eat using a car, van, scooter, or motorbike, you need to upload a driving licence to prove you can legally drive. However, if you plan on using a bicycle or e-bike, you only need a government-issued photo ID. In summary, whether you need to upload a driving licence depends on what vehicle you plan to deliver on.
Vehicle type | Driving licence upload |
|---|
Car | Yes |
Van | Yes |
Moped / Motorcycle | Yes |
*Legal E-Bike | No - government-issued photo ID only |
Bicycle | No - government-issued photo ID only |
Can I apply using a provisional driving licence?
An applicant on a scooter/moped can use a provisional driving licence if they also provide an Initial Basic Training (IBT) certificate.
What about non-EU driving licences?
If you have a non-European Union (EU) driving licence or international driving permit, you can drive in Ireland for up to 12 months. If your licence is not in English, you must also provide a notarised translation of your licence.
Tips for uploading your driving licence
When uploading your driving licence, make sure that:
You upload both sides of your licence as two separate photos
Make sure your licence is valid (not expired)
Ensure good lighting when taking a photo (no glare or blur)
Make sure all 4 corners are visible
Document 3: Hire and Reward insurance
Your normal car or motorcycle insurance only covers personal use (for example, going shopping, or visiting friends). When you deliver for work, you need special cover, called "Hire and Reward" insurance.
This type of insurance covers you for when you use your vehicle for business purposes - for example, getting paid to transport goods for people. If you work without it, you're breaking the law, and your insurance won't pay if you crash while delivering.
Who Needs Hire and Reward Insurance?
You need Hire and Reward insurance if you drive a:
✅ Car, van, motorcycle, or scooter
You do not need Hire and Reward insurance if you drive a:
❌ Bicycle
❌ E-bike
How to upload your Hire and Reward insurance
When you sign up for Hire & Reward insurance, your insurance provider will send you several documents - make sure you upload the correct one with the right information.
We accept either a Letter of Enrollment (for Pay-As-You-Go insurance) or a Certificate of Motor Insurance (for longer-term policies).
When uploading your insurance confirmation, these words must appear: "Hire and Reward" OR "Carriage of Goods" OR "Food delivery".
Other things to check on your insurance document include:
✅ That your full name is spelled exactly like it is on your Just Eat profile
✅ If other companies are listed (like Uber Eats), "Just Eat" must appear too
❌ Don't upload: A quote, or an app screenshot
Tips for uploading your Hire and Reward insurance
When uploading your proof of Hire and Reward insurance, make sure that:
You upload a clear photo or scan of the insurance
That all 4 corners of the document are visible
That all the words on the document are readable
